if 2 things are correlated positively, it means that as one changes in a positive direction, the other will also change in a positive direction, while a negative corelation means that as one thing changes in a positive direction, the other changes in a negative direction.

Not quite clear enough- in a positive correlation two variables move in the same direction, they go up together OR go down together. In a negative correlation, when one variable increases, the other one decreases.
