A lot of the players listed so far are actually regarded very highly by tennis fans and commentators. But Dementieva is extremely underrated, simply because she is dismissed because of her serve. She is never considered a contender, but she is an Olympic finalist and 2-time grand slam finalist and a staple of the top 10 for 3 years or so.
On the men's side, I'd say the underrated player right now is obviously Nikolay Davydenko. The guy has been in the top 4 for months now and he is basically just ignored by the tennis community. His game is very solid and he has every shot, but he's not flashy at all and he loses to the top players about 90% of the time. But he's obviously still good enough to be at the top level of the sport.

Lleyton Hewitt. He's won grand slams, Wimbledon, US open & Davis cup and still doesn't get the recognition he DESERVES. People don't appreciate him and most have a pre-conceived notion that he's some sort of trouble maker.
Others are Elena Dementieva, Nikolay Davydenko & Andy Roddick. The media always seem to have something to say about him.

David Nalbandian, he's one of the few players that have beaten federer on a big stage.
As for women its Elena dementieva, for her serve to be that bad she has to have some amazing groundstrokes(the best in womens tennis) to make up for itand she has great movement. If she can get a decent serve( try bolleteri) she can win a few grand slams.

Definetely me...
And then I think poor Henman doesn't get all the credit he deserves... Neither does Dementieva or Clijsters, she's never considered a great threat and she is a great player. Also of late people having been underrating Hingis, and I think she is one of the most dangerous on tour at the moment.

Tommy Haas and Nadia Petrova. I really like their game and wish they could win a grandslam. After all, they've been a while in the pro and they have improved a lot during last year season up to now.

Mens-Rafael Nadal, the only man on the planet who can give Federer a decent match...
Womens-I would say Amelie Mauresmo or Kim Clijsters...They win the grand slams when Sharapova doesn't...They and everyone else are overshadowed by Sharapova obviously...
