It's strange that I can answer this question, but my son has a Peyton Manning poster in his room. He needs a blue t-shirt with #18 on the left shoulder and a large 18 in front. If he has white baseball pants (or maybe a friend does), run a blue ribbon down the sides. Just tack it so you can remove it. To put numbers on the shirt, use either clothing paint or buy some white felt and cut it out, then tack it or use hem tape for a better hold. Also I assume his last name (Manning) is on the back at the top (across the shoulders). The helmet is white with a blue stripe from the nape of the neck to the brow, but unless someone has one, I'd just give him a football to carry instead. Hope this gives you some idea. I wouldnt spend a lot of money, but this could be a cheap way to go.

What the hell is a, or who is a 'Payton Manning' ? Why don't you just speak to your son's teacher ? Get advice from his teacher - not yahoo questions. While you are doing that make an effort to befriend that same person who probably spends more time in the classroom with your son than you may able to offer him at home. I agree with you. The project sounds a little strange. You, as the parent has a right to find out what it is all about. You do that by speaking to your son's teacher

Buy him a Peyton Manning jersey. Look at thrift stores first. If your son likes Peyton Manning, it will be something he will wear again. If you don't have the money, you could make one with a white t-shirt and fabric paints. I am sure the teacher knows that it isn't going to be perfect.

How about a Payton Manning jersey to start off with- and somehow try and get your son to have that 'I'm a dum-dum' expression on his face, y'know, like Payton does?

Well, considering that one google search led me to understand that he's a football player, it's incredibly easy. Get him a football jersey with his number on it.

get a jersey and stuff the shoulders, put his number on it, make or get a helmet, put black lines under his eyes, and get him tight pants.
