Drink 24 ounces of milk in 24 hours to lose weight? Yeah right. I'll do that if I want to gain weight. Water is better!

Drink milk for strong bones? Yeah right. How come countries with the highest dairy consumption have higher osteoporosis rates?

You are definitely going to have to show a source on the dairly consumption and higher osteoporosis rates.

It would be helpful to note that there are multiple factors that can affect osteoporosis rates including the amount of exercise someone gets, someone's body weight, and other dietary factors.

There are lots of companies making odd claims about weight loss. Subway promotes its own diet, however, there are lots of ways to mess that diet up with products that Subway sells. There are tons of companies making ludicrous weight-loss claims and even claims that are killing people.

There is evidence that increased calcium intake will help a person lose weight.

24 ounces of low-fat milk (2%) is 366 calories. If you go for no-fat it is 258 calories. Whole milk would be 450 calories. I am betting that spacing out the 24 ounces over the day would lower food cravings and could possibly lead to weight loss. I am not aware of any research or studies that have used this method though.

Drinking milk for the calcuim is not a bad idea. I am not aware of any study that says that milk is not adding calcium to the diet or that milk does not help prevent osteoporosis. Just because a country has a high dairy production does not mean that all of the people in the country are drinking milk. Also, where did you get your data on the dairy consumption vs. higher osteoporosis rates?

Milk is good for you to develop stronger bones, it is a fact.

Now just drinking milk and go on an eating spree wouldnt help you lose weight, neither does that method thinking by drinking milk i would lose weight. Its common sense been said thousand times how do you lose weight? calorie intake, metabolisme, and excercise.

When you say countries with the highest dairy consumption, u know thats not just milk they are consuming right?

Er. You can't drink whole milk 3 times a day and expect to lose weight. That's pretty self-explanatory. Skim milk essentially consists of water and calcium and is fine to drink anytime.

The government should, more than anything, go after California's dairy industry for its disgusting factory farms, where they keep their cows locked up, feed them antibiotics, and put out products from diseased animals: http://www.unhappycows.com/

Hey, get your priorities straight:

The hormones that dairy farmers use in the U.S. are far worse than any propaganda they might be pushing.
These bovine steroids in red meat and dairy ranging from milk to cheese to whipped cream, can cause anything from cancer to hormone imbalance in people who regularly consume them.

Milk could be a great part of a balanced diet, but not when it's pumped full of steroids.

Btw, the fact that humans are the only animals who keep producing lactase (the enzyme that breaks down lactose) as adults means that our species HAS adapted to dairy foods.
Thousands of our ancestors' brothers and sisters DIED of lactose poisoning so that future (i.e. present) generations of humans could digest dairy!
