I am guessing the engine mounts are not going to line up. You are talking about putting a 4 cylinder 4g63 engine into where a V6 engine was ....I'm guessing(not familiar with 3rd gen eclipses). It probably would be expensive. But hey, anything is possible with enough money. About the fwd to awd, that possible.. people have done it. What is difficult is converting a fwd to rwd (ex. Brent Rau's 2g eclipse).

Engine possibly but not the tranny. The EVO is AWD and the eclipse is FWD. Plus the amount of money spent on the engine even if it did fit wouldnt work out better than to just beef up the existing eclipse engine.

If you have to keep the eclipse just toss a turbo on it and upgrade the crank, rods, pistons, fuel system, intake and exhaust. You'll end up with a much easier time than trying to mate the EVO engine to your car.

That said, i'd trade the eclipse in and just get an EVO.

It would be a ton of work.

Just 1 year older (99-) already have a derivation of the EVO motor in them (4G63) and you don't need to worry about any swap BS. You can just put the money into the turbo components, intercooler, and tune.

why????...

the evo is better than an eclipse....the evo is all wheel drive and it looks better....it really would cost too much if you do that, just upgrade the turbo...
