Responding to Larry...those are only pre-1982 pennies. Those have more content of copper than more recent ones that are made mostly of steel. Keep enough of the old ones and you'll have more than a dollar once you have 100.
Check out the cross-section and you'll see the different colors.

not in the usa. really, i don't remember when the last time was that i saw anything that cost a penny. penny candy is now 5-10 cents.

yes if you go to Canada, because US 1 cent is more that a Canadian penny. So sure mail me the penny and I will send you a Canadian penny back.

Now, in Texas we would say that we could offer change for that penny--- from your hand to ours !!
But, careful how you change your change----
I've recently heard that there is something like one and an eighth cents worth of copper in every penny !!!!
