Although the organization is stepping over their bounds by stifling fans first amendment rights, they are trying to create a true sportsman like conduct in the schools. Wait a minute, don't start jumping down my throat saying that I agree with them. I don't.

In fact, what did you do in high school when your team lost a game. You booed them. You go to a NCAA basketball game and they completely suck, what did you do? You booed them. You go to a NBA or a NFL or a ML or a AL game and they completely suck during the game. What did you do? You booed them.

This is our choice to show our discontent for them. What would you rather do, boo them or get up and leave? You already paid for the ticket so you might as well stay and boo them.

The problem here is an underlying problem. This country is trying to be too politically correct. Soon, they'll be telling us that how to wipe our butts.

Booing is good. Booing is bad. But damn it, it is our right and we should be able to do it without offending anyone.

That is so stupid. If you don't teach kids how to win and lose graciously - especially in the face of an ungracious winner or loser - then you are setting them up for a delusional adulthood. It's bad enough that in rec. league sports for kids they are taking out the score keeper, everyone wins a medal and there are no tournaments. But highschool games? That is going way too far. How will they react to their first big disappointment after being so sheltered from real human feelings and experiences? Not just in athletics, but in relationships, school work, job interviews...

Heck no. That's all part of playing the game. Rooting for the home team and booing the opponent is why folks go to the games in the first place.
Republicunt Mom (hmmm): How on earth did you see this as an opportunity to bash liberals? (if it wasn't for free speech, probably wouldn't be any liberals...lol)

I haven't formed an opinion on this one yet.. though I'm leaning towards not banning it at the moment... on the one hand.. they are children.. and therefor do not have full rights and responsibilities yet.. so the school can (I would assume) legally do such a thing.. and we are responsible, as adults (and the school as an institution) to help our children learn proper behavior... on the other hand, part of growing and learning is acting the fool and being able to look back one day and say.. "Man I was stupid"... and I can't see how in this case allowing people to learn those life lessons by acting the fool is hurting anyone else.. maybe in some small schools where you usually have very one sided crowds (I've seen that first hand.. it can be insane sometimes)..... again though.. these children represent the school.. and I know I would not want my school represented that way.... it's hard to say in the end... and to be honest I think we have more pressing matters to attend to in the US at this time.. maybe we can figure that one out another day.

Of course not. It's not offensive language to boo. It's freedom of speech, if chants use offensive language, then that's innapprovprate, but you can't ban booing. What are they going to do, arrest the whole crowd after the game? It's impossible to enforce anyways. A waste of time to even consider it.

I don't think that booing should be banned. After all, booers are just practicing their freedom of expression. Also, high schoolers have to learn at SOME point what to expect from society.
