Is there any difference between diesel sold by Tesco’s or BP in relation to mileage and performance of the engine? I know BP do Ultimate Diesel but I don’t know if this is supplied in all stations. My local BP station displays it as BP Diesel.

Thanks in advance.

All diesel is the same, mostly in an area it all comes from the same refinery. What happens is that different additives are added, ie anti waxing in the cold weather.
I have used diesel fuel from many different companies and have never been able to tell the difference and the MPG always remains very similar.

None!!!!!!!!

There is no best type of diesel.

Do what I do and run your diesel vehicle on good old Morrisons Sunflower Oil.

Far better for the engine, greater lubricity, more mpg and quieter.

Mine is a 2800cc Turbo Diesel and has far less obnoxious output than the smallest engines cars running on petrol.

The greatest benefit is that it costs about 50p/ltr depending on location.

I would recommend BP given that they have more control over thier mixes than other places (like the grocery stores or smaller stations) but I am not familiar with Tesco.

Depends on your car. Mine emphatically doesn't like Sainsbury's low sulphur diesel, but others have no problem. There are slight differences, according to the suppliers blending requirements, and some engines are more sensitive than others.

Like petrol, it all depends on what extra they put in and take out. I always buy from Shell myself ( coz BP & Esso rip you off ), but I get more MPG from Shell fuel than I do the local supermarket. Work that bit out for yourself

Diesel is diesel. The mileage is what the engine is capable of doing per miles per gallon its nothing to do with what diesel you use.

I use Shell diesel - they tend to be priced the same as the supermarkets.
