I think that's the problem. You're trying to imagine what the outcome will be, when it may be nothing like what you are thinking of.
I know it's hard to come out and say 'I'm pregnant', but after a while, when the shock has worn off, I'd be amazed if they didn't want to help buy things for your baby, after all, who can resist the needs of a little baby?
If you feel better writing it in a note, there's nothing to stop you doing that.

You obviously thought you were mature enough to get pregnant so now be mature enough to tell them. A letter is the cowards way out. You could, however, make it fun. Make up little gift bags with jars of baby food in them. Or have them over, make a cake and write about the blessed event on the top. I am sure you can come up with a creative way to break the news.

We both told our families by letter because we were able to get out what we wanted to say without any interruptions. We were also able to tell how happy we were and that we wanted to share this special time with them. We asked our families if they didn't agree with our choice to not respond or call right away because it is a very happy and special time for us. We were terrified because it was very unexpected (I was on the pill) and we weren't married. It turned out that both of our families were absolutely thrilled and have been so supportive. It was such a relief when we were able to share the joy with everyone.
Hope this maybe helped a little!

You should be happy your pregnant, and family should always be supportive. Let them know (in person is best but a phone call works) that you are a mother to be! Besides if you dont tell them, they will find out eventually when they visit and your belly is nice and plump! They will understand, and if not, be happy you are blessed with a baby to be!

I'm not pregnant and i don't have any children... but i feel being straight forward is best. They are your family, and I know how tough family's can be, but hiding it will only make it worse. Maybe you should go visit your dad one on one and talk to him about it, tell him how you feel and why you waited. I'm sure he will respect you for that, even though he might be shocked. He is still dad, and always will be , just remeber that.

Sorry hon but you are 22 an adult now, face to face is the best way to go.
Sometimes parents can surprize us, I was 17 and told mine I was pregnant and they reacted very well.
Good luck

I think you should do it in a happy way. get them towels or shirts that say grandma and grandpa on them. that way you don't have to say anything you can just stand there and wait for the reaction.

You could try calling and telling them so that way if it gets too hard, you could always hang up.
