Republicans in general have not distanced themselves from her. They're just lying to the public and doing temporary damage control. In a couple of weeks it will blow over, and they'll be as cozy with Ann Coulter as before.

Everyone seems to forget that the audience applauded when she made those comments. No one shot her down, no one criticized her comment when she made it. Some of those presidential candidates were there at that meeting and they said nothing.

It was only after people got pissed off that they started to condemn her remarks.

No one is going to stop watching fox news because of this. So Murdoch has no reason to hide his support for Ann. If anything the controversy will bring in even more viewers, and even more advertising dollars.

I was not aware that Fox News was defending the comments. I would suggest sending an email to Fox News asking the same question.

BTW, what makes her comments disgraceful? Were they incorrect?

Republicans in general don't support Coulter. She's merely another happy-go-lucky whiner who thinks that a soapbox and a megaphone makes her opinion worth that much more than the rest of us.

And to those who use freedom of speech as an excuse for what she said, nobody's saying she couldn't say it. It's just like the 9/11 widows, she has the balls to say it, she should have the balls to take the backlash.

People need to accept Ann Coulter for what she is - a screeching banshee who is just looking for attention. She is an entertainer, nothing more. Perhaps there was a time when she was a shrewd political analyst, but I'd bet that was before she realized how much money she could make with her sensationalist, extremist thoughts about liberals.

The kicker is, I bet she doesn't even remotely believe the crap that comes out of her mouth. I bet she doesn't actually care about liberals at all - she just knows how to make a buck. And normally, that wouldn't bother me, except she is one of the most polarizing forces in this country today. She is helping to destroy America, and that DOES bother me. It should bother everyone.

i think she's smart and knows her stuff, although she can tend to be seriously extreme. i try to defend her too, because i think she means well , she just doesn't realize how her comments come out sounding. plus, her claim to fame is basically being controversial, without certain comments that sound extreme, she's just your average, smart, republican columnist, so she exaggerates what she believes. i don't agree with many things she says, but you have to take what she says with a grain of salt, anyway. not all republicans are like her.

I don't see a problem with Ann's comments.
It is call Free Speech.

Don't like Ann I suggest you don't watch her or buy her books.

I don't happen to like Kerry calling our troops terrorists or dumb.

Or how about Bill Maher wishing Chenny was dead and that would have save lives isn't that disgraceful.

But I don't see that getting nearly the press that Ann is getting.

To me that is being a hypocrite and I love to see some liberal admit to it but that is not going to happen.

Need a reminder.
During the Swift Boat Vets attack on Kerry. Kerry called for them to stop and told Bush to say they should stop.
Bush said all attack ads should stop did Kerry back that up.
NOPE.

Liberals are way too thin skin.

I think the whole thing is being blown out of proportion. So she screwed up, I mean when you hear what comes out of Maureen Dowd, and Molly Ivin who has passed away, and Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Rosie, and some of the others no one makes a big deal out of what they say. I say give this one a rest. Who even cares.

b/c she works for them, and is right up their viewers alley. The candidates whether they agree w/ her or not have to dismiss her remarks, b/c they are trying to appeal to a wide variety of people to win.
I like how all of these people are making this a free speech issue, which that has nothing to do w/ the question. He didn't say she should go to jail. If you are a political pundit you are held responsible job wise for what you say.
