I really wanted colored lenses several years back, and I didnt want to go to the eye doctor, but at least when I bought them, you HAD to visit an eye doctor. It wasn't that expensive, I think you just have to do a quick eye exam, and then you get the advantage of being able to try on a ton of lenses to see which ones you like.

I had a friend get colored lenses without a prescription and she was fine for a long while, but over time they started irritating her eyes, and her doctor said that they non-presctiption lenses are bad for the eyes, and if she continued wearing them she would end up NEEDING a prescription. just a thought

You should get an eye appointment anyway just to make sure your eyes are healthy and you don't have a stingmatism.( sp?)
When I got mine I had to do an ey e exam and then try different contacts..Im not sure why though...the eye doctor seemed a little weird...
anyway it's best to get them through a glasses store....plus you can always ask for a free trial pair or atleast a discount since they're your first and you might not like them.
I got 3 pairs free.

Never place anything "cheap" in your eyes! For safety it is best to go to an optical shop. Perhaps your local wal-mart or target has one. Poorly made contacts lens can potentially give you more problems than just not liking your eye color!

I would go to an optometrist (eye doctor) to make sure your eyes are ok to have lenses even if they are non-perscription. Being a contact lens wearer do you know what to do when the lens splits and half of it disappears behind your eye somewhere!
