Look, I'm getting tired of this. The Steelers cut Joey because he was a cap casualty. What's really getting up my nose is all the people saying it was a stupid thing and they've never seen a team go downhill like this after winning the Super Bowl. I'll miss Peezy, but we had to do, I hope he goes anywhere else other than the other three teams AFC North. And to the ones who say how bad our team was last year after winning the big one, obviously they've only started watching football at the latest of 5 years ago. That team that everybody freaking loves, New England, went 8-8, JUST LIKE US, the first year after they won the Super Bowl. Do some research before you spout off about how much you DON'T know.
Cheers.

1. It seemed like a monetary decision
2. The Steelers might be going to a 4-3, and while Porter is a great inside linebacker, he might not be able to shift outside, or play middle.
3. He might be too much of an off field distraction.
As far as who will get him, the 49ers have been busy, and the Ravens are looking for an inside backer, but don't be surprised if the Colts try to sign him.

I'm a Steelers fan, and Porter was a good linebacker, however, I think that dumping him was the correct thing to do because of salary cap issues and his persistant mouth. Having to deal with that kind of public relations nightmare is hard enough for people like the Rooneys, who try hard to run a good, upstanding team.

Obviously theyre trying to save money, and rebuild the team around Big Ben. I cant remember the last time a Super Bowl team crashed and burned the next season as bad as the Steelers did.
I would LOVE to see the Giants go after him. Theyve also cut alot of key players (Arrington, Petitgout, Chad Morton, Carlos Emmons) and have freed up salary space. They need a guy like Porter.

If you want to know who looses the most talent year in and year out it has yo be the Steele's. porter is not the first great linebacker they have lost. gregg loydd. talent alone how about plexus buress, randell eljust to mention a couple.every year it seems they loose two or three key players. most teams this would devestate but the steelers do a great job finding talent in the draft . Its almost like san fran plug in a qb and win is it the system or the player?

what WERE the steelers thinking?
probably to save money because he's "lost a step" (though I still think he plays very well) and supposedly they didn't want new coach Mike Tomlin to have to deal with his mouth.
I don't believe the "they're switching to 4-3 and joey's a 3-4 OLB" rumor ---I don't care if Tomlin ran tampa 2 in MN and TB, he's not a total idiot ---Steelers front 7 are built for the 3-4 ---plus he's keeping LeBeau as the D-Coord, and he's a 3-4 mastermind.

I feel the Steelers let him go because he has made a lot of bone headed mistakes and is getting up there in age as a football player. They feel they can replace him with a younger man because they always produce linebackers in the draft. He should go to the Browns. But it may be Miami, Dallas, or the Raiders.

i asked the same question lol im a steelers fan, and when i heard he was cut, i was shocked. but i tihnk as long as they pick up a new players (big name guy) they will be fine. without porter, they better have plenty of money to get some good ppl. i would tihnk someone like 49ers woud get him only because thats where he wanted to go when he was cut.

I'm thinking Joey was a sal-cap casualty. Coming out of college he was expecting to go to the Dallas Cowboys and I think now he will get his chance. Greg Ellis may be done and Da 'Boys are definitely in the market for a rush OLB. Teaming him up with D. Ware :-O All I can say is QBs beware!!!!

There is a great chance he'll end up in Dallas since he's a 3-4 LB and the Cowboys need all sorts of help in their linebacker core.
