The computer itself is pretty much the same. However, Dell has much better customer support.

Dell and Gateway are just brand names, such as IBM, the difference in your computer is what drives it, the size of memory, the Gigs, etc, when you are looking to buy, that's what you should be looking at first and foremost. Does this computer do what I am requiring it todo and have the programs on it that I need it to have and at the price I'm willing to pay.
So if you are looking for particulars in a computer, look for the internal applications, Dell, Gateway, HP, Activia, IBM, etc, are just names of companies.
