Keep the updates, they are needed to make xp function properly.
Dont worry about memory it will be hard disc space that your running out of.
Try to delete programs like games and stuff you dont use, then go to my computer & right click click on your C:\ drive (or which ever your hard disc is installed on) then go to properties and it will show you a pie chart of how much space you have left.
If you are stuck for space you may want to invest in an external hard drive prices starting from about £30 upwards, you can then plug this into your USB port and have loads of extra space
Hope that helps

Run Disk Cleanup and delete all temp files. Run Disk Defrag. After that finishes, go to you web Explorer, hit Tools, Internet Options and check the box "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when Browser is closed' ...it's under Security. This will solve your speed issue.
Also, run msconfig and uncheck the programs you don't need upon startup. That'll solve your memory problem.
If you deleted any updates, run Windows Update again and reinstall them. Uninstalling them individually will not solve your problems.
The best way though, backup your files, format your c: drive and reload XP, start fresh.

you do not want to uninstall the updates. These are for your protection. If you're running slow and low on memory and disk space, make sure you disable any unneeded programs from the task bar (start -> run -> type "msconfig"->startup). Then reboot and run the cleanup utility to free up some disk space, then defrag your hard drive. Also run Adaware or spybot s&d to remove any spyware that might be slowing the system down. A virus scan is also recommended.

First of all, get a Windows XP Home/Pro Edition SP2 included bootable CD. Then, reinstall your operating system.
If you have a HDD bigger than 20GB, mek 2 patitions: C:\ as big as 10GB and D:\ as big as the rest of the HDD. After you`ve finished, go in Control Panel - Automatic Updates and check the box "download updates but let me choose when to install them".
Afterwards, get a good Antivirus Software, like avast or nod32. I have a 5year licence for avast.
For future advice : reinstall your OS at 4-5 months and believe me you won`t get any more trouble.

when i get in that spot i burn things i dont want to get rid of but dont use that often to cd/dvd and then delte them of drive.
I Would NOT delete ms updates youre looking at having to reload the system if you keep that up!!!
they are probably already installed, you just clicked the box show ms /system/updates on show files.
Anyway if you can afford it a new drive might be anoth solution, to transfer your stuff on to new big drive check out norton's ghost.
If there isnt any thing on this drive you cant live without you can always re-install xp and new again.

Before you delete any of the updates try running your anti-virus and anti spyware programs first in safe mode.
You don't mention how big the hard drive is but you might want to move files that you no longer use to disks then deleting them from the hard drive. You can also do the same thing with old programs you no longer use.
Then run disk cleanup and defrag the drive
Hope this helps

Ha ha. That sucks. You need to remove spyware and clean your cache frequently. My computer runs perfectly because I use these programs:
Tracks Eraser Pro
Spybot search and destroy
Registry Mechanic
Hijack this
and then a good defragment
