Third world country? Good one. That's why everyone from all over the world wants to move to the U.S. Think about that. I teach ESL, and I am getting 1-2 new students each month from around the world, since school started. People keep coming and coming, and that's because they all know that the U.S. is a great place to live.

As a Brit who lived in America for 2 years I feel that the British view of Americans is based on a biased view of them through our media.

I went to school in Texas and found it to be one of the best schools I ever went to. They pushed me hard and I started at 8:30 and finished at 4 at age 10. I had up to 2 hours homework every night and not much time to watch TV. However the kids get 3 months summer holidays so if they're not away at camp do watch quite a lot of TV.

American people are not the idiots the Brits think they are, there's just more of them so more scope to find stupid ones. People forget that there are just as many intelligent wonderful Americans too. A lot of Americans look to the BBC for unbiased news as the American TV tends to forget about the rest of the world because there is usually so much going on in the States to report on.

I don't think so because TV needs electricity to work and as the US is a third world country they would not have such a power source. But I could be wrong.

Someone needs to get their facts straight. Yes we have Televisions, Cars, Trucks, Big Screen TV's, Digital surround systems, super computers in the home, you name it we have it and probably developed the technology on how to make it. If you want to question third world countries try, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or mostly any Islamic based country. They are always opressed and living in mud huts and caves.

Yeah but many don't seem to learn much about the outside world from TV.

I think, after reading the answers that they must have tv's, and obviously they watch them lots. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

ps, I think it is offensive to 3rd world countries to include the US in their numbers.

Yes darling we do. We also have computer and access to the world wide web. Do you get wireless service from inside that kangaroo pouch all you Aussies live in, or do you have to get her to hop you over to the community phone that everyone has to share?

To answer the question, yes, they have televisions in the USA.

As for the rest of your statement, I will simply dismiss it without comment.
