Minamoto no Yoshitsune was the greatest leader of the Minamoto but there was also his brother Noriyori who won several battles, his cousin Minamoto no Yoshinaka who captured Kyoto. Yoshitsune would eventually have to defeat Yoshinaka himself for betraying the Minamoto leader: Yoritomo.
Yoshitsune beat the Taira once and for all at the battle of Dannoura in 1185. Unfortunately his brother distrusted him and eventually he was made an outlawed and hunted. He died by his own hands in 1189 near Hiraizumi in order to avoid capture
