A gene? Try half of his genes. The other half comes from dad. This is true of both boys and girls.

Yes. Many genes. Each person has two chromosomes which contain many genes. Femals have two X chromosomes and Males have an X and a Y chromosome. During fertilization if an X chromosome from the egg is fertilized by a sperm with the Y chromosome then a baby boy is born and all his genes on his X chromosome came from his mother, as well as half of the rest of his 23 pairs of chromosomes.

You share half the chromosomes with your son, the other half, your partner shares with your son. Chromosomes are the genes. There are two chromosomes that make up each gene and each partner contributes one chromosome for every possible gene in your son's body. Hope this helps.
