I would say "The Waltons". Hear me out....it was about family, it was about respect, integrity and hard work. It was about putting the other person first and helping anyone in need--qualities America in general is sorely lacking in today's times......

All in the Family - both Edith and Archie were great characters
I Love Lucy - for it's time, it was wonderful
Mary Tyler Moore Show - entire cast was excellent
Taxi - classic characters, very funny
DicK Van Dyke Show - I thought he was very endearing

I, agree, All in the Family did more for race relations than any show ever has. Some people were offended. They just didn't get it. The joke was on Archie. His stupidity was priceless.
It also dealt with issues that were not discussed at that time -- abortion, rape, menopause, breast cancer. It was truly ground breaking.

Neither would be categorized as best tv show ever but they gave innocent and playful fun which i think lacks with today's shows

That Girl. It was so underrated but it was great for young women who wanted to be someone other than a housewife, SOMEONE's secretary, and all the other possesive jobs.
