As a midterm for one of my classes, I will have to perform a monolgue. I've chosen a speech from "Angels In America" by Tony Kushner. The speech is by Harper Pitt when she is on a plane. I will also have to dress the part. For those who have read or are familiar with this play, what would Harper wear? She is supposed to be a mormon with valium addiction. Any advice on what to wear?

She would dress very conservatively. Probably a long dress.....check out the HBO mini series where the role was played by the fabulous Mary Louise Parker. That should give you some costume ideas.....

I can't recall the year it was set in, but I am pretty sure they just dressed like anyone else. I haven't seen/read the play, but I did see the movie version. From what I recall she just looked like a slightly ran down Jackie O. I'd just stick with the time frame. It was an interesting show. Didn't love it, but it was well made and acted.
