Is it true that earbuds get messed up when you wrap them around your ipod?

Only if you wrap them up tightly - you stress the wires inside and cause them to break. If you wrap them up loosely you'll be ok.

Yes by all means. Have you ever taken a piece of wire or plastic or anything that's hard but bendable and bent it back and forth to break it off. That's what happens to the wires inside your ear buds. Each time you wrap it up tightly you aren't wrapping the cable in the same direction and bending it at the same angles and places. So yes eventually it will break one of the conductors in the ear buds. Now it is true that as long as you don't wrap it really tight its safer but you're only prolonging the inevitable.

well there is a couple wires inside that cable - everytime you wrap them around the player - you could be stressing the strands of wire -(they are very thin) but then considering the prioce of earbuds it is of no consequence
