Problem is...just because you lose the most, doesn't mean you get the first pick, you just get the most ping pong balls in the lottery.
And to comment about Duncan...the Spurs are the ones who tanked that season to get him. Once David Robinson broke his ankle, they wrapped the Admiral up for the season and threw in the towel so they could get a premiere talent to go with Robinson, who was a perinial finalist for the league's top scorer every year up to that point.
The Celtics need a dominating middle man. They got the perimeter play. They need Odin. And that is what they are playing for....rather, not playing, for. Durant won't do. So if they don't get Odin, they could at least trade down and get value.
But beware...it's the Celtics!

They need to do something. They really haven't been competitive since after the 1987 season. When Len Bias died, so did the Celtics hope of rebuilding. Since then, they've had a few good players, but it takes more than one person to win a championship. Even Michael Jordan realized that. A number one draft pick would certainly help the Celtics to get back on the road to winning. Paul Pierce needs help.

No, nobody should ever LOSE on purpose....they've gotten top draft #'s for the past 5 years & that hasn't helped them.

They won't have to try, anyway its not as simple as that anymore, they have to win the lottery to get 1st pick.

No way, what good did it do in '97 when M.L. Carr was going for Duncan.
