I'm a 32-year-old female who needs a new wardrobe. What should I buy? NOT expensive stuff. Just regular stuff that looks stylish enough. I guess what I'm asking are what are the must-haves and what are the things to avoid totally?

My body type is: 5'6", 133 lbs. The only thing I'd really like to conceal is my lower stomach. I tend to go for longer shirts to try to hide that it sticks out.

I love fashion and shopping. I am not a slave to the trends, but I do like to add a few trendy items every season to my wardrobe, which mostly consists of classic pieces. These are some items I'd consider essentials for every woman's wardrobe:
knee length skirts such as a-line or pencil skirts
brown and black knee high suede/leather boots (looks great with jeans, skirts or dresses)
blazers in neutral colors such as black, white or khaki to wear with skirts, slacks or jeans
one gold and one silver dress shoe, such as a strappy style (to wear with jeans for a dressy look or with skirts or dresses)
semi-low-rise, wide leg or bootcut slacks in white, black and khaki
a nude thong to wear under dress slacks
a pair of dark denim jeans, which are great because you can dress them down or up with heels for at night
a pair of black pumps and brown pumps (i prefer a rounded toe with a kitten heel as opposed to a pointy toe style with a super high heel, for comfort)
cute flirty tops with feminine, unique details (ie: ruching, flutter sleeves, ruffles)
look for three-quarter length sleeves, babydoll and wrap-around tops (great for flattering the midsection) and don't shy away from bold prints as long as they are modern looking (no bad 80's floral)
buy some fashion mags, even if most of the clothes are expensive they can still be a source of inspiration for ideas

avoid fabrics such as polyester and acryllic (natural fabrics are just as affordable and look and feel so much better)
avoid pants that are tapered and with too high of a rise in the waist since these looks are usually unflattering (an exception would be a skinny jean which are great for wearing with boots)
avoid acid wash jeans and try to find a pair without excessive fading, whiskering, etc.
avoid obvious logos as there is no need to look like a walking advertisement

Hope this helps!

It really depends on your personal style, your lifestyle, your attitude toward life, etc. I'm older than you but the general rule for a grown woman is, if you were old enough to wear it the first time around, you're probably too old to wear it now that it's in style the second time around. In other words, leggings, high wedge heels, really short skirts, baby doll tops, etc. may not be your style any more.

But on the other hand, if you have great legs, why not show them off with a pair of Bermuda shorts, just below the knee? Top them with a cute cropped jacket and it makes a great outfit. You can wear the dressier ones to work with heels, or more casual ones with flats or sandals.

There are some really pretty dresses out for spring already, in floral prints or polka dots, with swirly full skirts and sleeveless or halter tops, if you feel comfortable with that.

Otherwise, try a full patterned skirt, just below the knee, with stitched down pleats at the hip, and a short-sleeved or 3/4 sleeved tee or sweater to match. Very pretty and up to date. The skirt will probably also work with the cropped jacket, or you can try a twinset of cardigan and shell or cami. Wear this outfit with a pretty pair of sandals, almost any heel height seems to work.

And of course your favorite jeans will also go with the cropped jacket and the sweaters/tops. Cropped pants are still really popular this year too.

Good luck to you and have fun shopping!

Oh, the load of being a tomboy huh? don't worry, I persisted this for an prolonged time as nicely. My complete closet replaced into in simple terms denims and t-shirts and footwear. My advice, you're your guy or woman style assertion. this is stupid to stick to traits whilst you at the instant are not gentle with your self. it must be, like it replaced into with me, that I had by no potential tried a sparkling look. enable's start up small and see the way you sense: Get your self a pair of stiletto heels, a helpful installation pair of denims, or maybe an hassle-free suitable. attempt to positioned on it for a whole day and flow out. See the way you sense.. flow buying for looks you like and could have been afraid to purpose. Your form could desire to basically mirror your self, so in simple terms positioned on what you like! terrific needs!

wow! hi
ok right i know a few people like you!

try going for quarter sleaved blouses and a skirt ( if you work )
then for going out places, quarter sleaved dresses with a good cleavage, so that the attention goes to your breasts and not stomach! you can wear these dresses with jeans or leggins!
also bolero's and jeans or layers work well!
i've heard that maxi dresses and bug glasses are in fashion to wear with gold sandals! these can be very cheap from new Look or any other retailer!!

Hope i Helped
good luck sweetie!

You can look up to date, fashionable without spending alot of money. I have a few helpful hints for you.
These items are a must in your wardrobe.
6 very nice scoop neck or v-neck tops. Not too casual
Macy's carries Joseph D brand and that company makes beautiful tops
2 Pair of well fitting dress pants - Black and Brown no pleats in the front of the pants
1 Pair of Great Leather mid length boots in black or brown
2 Pairs of great looking high heels
1 Pair of Nice Flat Shoes
1 Dynamite Dress Jacket - with a semi fitted look and not too long in maybe a tan, black or brown to go with pants and jeans
For summer get a cream color linen jacket and a black linen one
2 Pairs of Dress Jeans - in Boot Cut
1 Nice Jean Jacket - Macy's
2 Classic Simple Silk Blouses - Beige and White
2 Nice Silky Knit knee length dresses, maybe a wrap dress which is very figure flattering
A great leather outerware semi fitted jacket possibly with a belt or zipper front
2 Up to Date Sweat Outfits by Oleg Cassini Co. Macy's carries that brand
2 A-line skirts - One Black and one in a simple print for summer.
Don't wear blouses over your stomach, as it brings more attention to your figure fault, and also don't buy baggy clothes as they make you actually look heavier. You need well fitted, not too tight clothes.
Clothes to avoid:
Big Prints in tops
Little prissy prints in tops
No ankle tight jeans, only boot cut
No light shade in jeans, medium and dark dress jeans
Try to wear jackets over your tops as jackets hide alot of figure faults on top
No elastic waist pants
No side pockets on dress pants, a fitted flat front, no pleats
Buy good basic well fitting clothing...no fads, no prissy looks. You want to look smartly dressed, but modern looking
Try Macy's, H & M Clothing, New York and Company. Filene's, Kohls, Target, J. C. Penney, just to mention a few.

Good Luck

Must haves:
Dark straight leg jeans
Well fitting dress pants
Black pointy-toe shoes
A party dress
A button down shirt
A Jacket

If you buy classic pieces, you can dress them up by adding funky jewelry or accesories. Or buy a nice classic suit and pair it with a fun tank-top.

This all depends on your body type, what you consider expensive, where you work (if you work.)

Check the websites for whatever magazines you read or appeal to you. These websites usually have style guides, fitting guides, etc.
