Lawmakers to hold Walter Reed hearings
Monday, March 5, '07
WASHINGTON (AP) - As several House committees prepared to delve into the scandal at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, outraged lawmakers vowed quick action and called for an independent commission to examine poor conditions for soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's national security panel, headed by Rep. John Tierney, D-Mass., scheduled a hearing at the hospital's auditorium Monday morning. The list of Army officials, hospital staff and patients invited to speak includes the medical center's previous commander, Maj. Gen. George Weightman.

So - where have all of these "outraged" lawmakers been over a period of several years? Surely the "condiions" didn't just suddenly arise overnight! Where have these "concerned" people been? And if they support and "care" so much about our troops, why hadn't they visited Walter Reed themselves? They ae SO phony.

..and even after they have these urgent 'hearings', so what? Everytme they have a hearing about some issue or another, we get all the gory details....and then....what happens. A big scathing report. and then NOTHING.

humm. I don't think the "libs" are blaming anything on Bush and I'm not a 'lib'. In fact I am listening to the hearing and so far no one has placed blame on Bush...moreso on the jerks who ran the place!
But you see Bush visited WSalter Reed many times, and of course they 'led' him to areas where there were apparently few problems...Still, he is the president. It was his job to inspect ALL of the facilities, not just those that were handpicked.

Because the government finally got caught. They have no choice but to pretend they are concerned.

Because most people thought that the job was being done properly. Unfortunately, an investigation is necessary to determine what went wrong, and how to fix it so this won't happen again. Lawmakers can't be on top of EVERYTHING all the time.
I'm sure that any of the lawmakers that have visited W.R. weren't shown the areas that have caused the outrage. It is a bad problem, and I hope that it will be gotten under control quickly. In my opinion, there is NO excuse for being dirty.

Of course these conditions are of long standing! I have to believe that the libs are running out of things to "pin" on president Bush.

Well, all the hoopla is because of the media. I am glad that the story was reported because now something will get done.

We should all have the government supply us with health care. Walter Reed is a good example. "Mommy, can I trust the government?"

I think it's just a ruse to get the media off of Bush's war.
