I have an unusual job. I'm a store detective who catches shoplifters. I dress very casually and occasionally I have to run. Summer is coming and I will be wearing shorts soon. For some reason I don't think socks and sneakers look very good with shorts. Are there any stylish, comfortable shoes that I can run in? Maybe an open-toed sandal that has a rubber sole? Something that I don't have to wear socks with, but won't make my feet sweaty. Maybe you can direct me to a website that has pictures of shoes like this. Don't forget they must be comfortable and able to handle running, and must go with casual shorts. But not hideously ugly!!
Thank you for any input!

There are sandals that Keen & Teva make that are pretty open but have an ankle strap with really good support. There are several light weight mesh sneaker styles that would work with a footie sock (golf sock) that covers just your foot up to the ankle so it looks like you don't have socks on. Naturalizer, Clarks, Softwalks, and others make some middle of the road sandals that don't have a hard sole but a little more style than the Keen & Teva. Here are three sites that I use to check out styles and shoes besides the brand web sites - nike, reebok, naturalizer, ninewest, bandalino, etc. Good luck.

Here is a rubber sole sandal. It looks like it woud stay on your feet while running:

This site has many other shoes that could work for you. Hope you find something you like.

You may want to buy toe socks that way you can't see them when you wear shorts.

I like zappos.com

It has tons of shoes and you can search by most any criteria.
