There isn't specifically such a thing as a Carpet Mite, but House Dust Mites do tend to thrive in carpets.

They are dust mites they are microscopic and can be a nightmare for allergy sufferers.
I bought a vapour steam cleaner and it cleans my carpet and kills the mites without any chemicals.I also hoover my mattress once every 2 months then steam that as well.
If you have never hoovered your mattress, empty your vac and try it once you will be amazed what comes out of it. I have a Dyson with a clear cylinder and I did mine after talking to a friend about it Yuk!
