TV has been struggling lately. We haven't even really had a television hit that's come out for the 2000-2010 season. All the shows that came from this decade are only average. Think about the 70s television hit, All In The Family and the Jeffersons. Think about the many 80s television hits, The Cosby Show and Cheers. Then we have the 90s television Hits, Family Matters, Saved By The Bell, and Friends. What really have we had come out this decade? Corny shows like Reba. I'm surprised Reba lasted 6 years on television with the extremely lame jokes and poor writing on the show. It wasn't even a hit either. Friends was the last real hit on television that everyone went crazy over, but that was from the 90s. I'm thinking Everybody Hates Chris has the potential to become a hit and people may start going crazy over it when it reaches it's height, but not quite yet. Two and Half Men does well but no one gets crazy over it. Maybe it comes from the new fascination with reality television?

And that's why their concentrating more on reality than sitcoms lately. After all, some would consider American Idol a television icon in TV history and major hit for 2000-2010

you're right about sitcoms. You forgot to mention Seinfeld, Home Improvement and Growing Pains- some of my old favs. I like the Office and Scrubs. As far as dramas go there's an abundance of good ones.
Reba-lol! I know what you mean. There's alot of flops still on the air.

The reason why there hasn't been a sitcom hit like "Friends" is due to many reasons. People now and the networks just want to play and watch crime dramas and reality shows. Network television doesn't let their shows grow to gain an audience, and that is why so many good shows get cancelled.

Actually, there are a few VERY good shows on now. Heroes, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and Shark, are very good ones!
