Brian Haw has been protesting in Parliament Square since 02 Jun 01. Initially he was campaigning against the economic sanctions imposed against Iraq and the bombing of the country by the US and UK. After 11 Sep 01, he started to protest against the War on Terror. In spite of the UK government trying to move him they have failed to shift and so he sits outside Parliament littering the surrounding area with his placades, banners, flags and other trash, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Frank, my cousin was an airman at Greenham Common and occassionally they would take the base fire engines down to the main gate and give all the hippies camped outside a much needed hose down. It now seems that the Labour controlled council in Newbury have acheieved what the protestors couldn't because the entire base has been turned back to common land. Very little of the original base infratructure remains.

He'll be put out to grass with all the other deluded single issue fanatics whose efforts have made no difference.

I am of course referring to the great unwashed Greenham Common protesters, ban the bomb clowns, and Iraq war protesters.

In all the years that I can remember I can only think of one occasion where protesters have made any difference in the outcome of their issue and that was the poll tax rioters.

Brian Haw will doubtless continue his anti-war campaign but will focus more on the abolition of war in general rather than the Iraq war. Afghanistan 'Spring Offencive' will give him much to argue against. Brian Haw is not going to go away.

Haw should become the next leader of the labour party, why should the americans stick there weapons of mass destruction in our country, bearing in mind most of the protesters at Greenham Common were women, it speaks volumes about your cousin doesn't it. How brave of him, couldn't he get a proper trade in the forces.

Good on Brian Haw we need more like him.
Glad to see Greenham common being returned back to its natural state, people will get more enjoyment out of it as cruise missiles are dangerous.

He will have to carry on protesting and you will have to ask yourself where do you think those troops will be sent to next and for what purpose?
