What are those traditional values anyway? Do we prefer slavery and racism? Or is it depriving women of political input? Is it the genocide of the Native Americans or religious persecution i.e. the Inquisition?
Boy, who would want any progress when the past was already so moral?

The worth of the individual over the power of the state. Stop living in the past, the issues you sight are ancient history (genocide of native American, Inquisition, slavery, racism, universal sufferage) The only religion persecuting anyone is islam and it is only the Conservatives that recognize this and work to stop it.

Socialism loves to spread lies to undermine your government.

The first Republican president was Lincoln so it was the brand new Republican party that ended slavery.

Genocide of Native Americans is a straw man. They were treated badly by far more Democratic politicians than Republican but even with that they have done far better than indigenous people in Mexico or anywhere in South America.

Women have held far more positions of power in the administrations of Republican presidents than Democrats.

This country was founded on the principle of no religious persecution. The inquisition happend in Spain.

One cannot look at 100 years ago and judge the events by modern standards. Much has evolved since then. But if you look to more modern times, yes, America was much more moral before the 1960's.

More like the "Golden Age" of the 50s. Not the racism part, but the strong family bonds, and the good sense of morals. Another thing was that the nation was united in a way that it hasn't been in a while, it was us vs. the commies, and it helped the nation work toward a common goal, instead of all this bickering.

I agree with you. I believe that Conservatives want to conserve their own power-base, and to conserve their own wealth, also. In the parlance of political discourse, Conservative usually means someone who want to keep things the way they are now, and is basically against progress in any form, except for sucking more money out of the pockets of the rest of us.

Traditional conservatives want to be conservative with money and size of government. Those people are few and far between. As far as history, you may want to check your facts on who supported what...
