When the Live 8 Concerts where big news our Government pledged millions of pounds to the cause, but since promising the cash no further mention of it being paid has been made in the media.
Considering it would be great PR why have they not made a big deal of their generousity?

they get the cash IF they bring in free trade which isn't really free as it allows corporations to put local businesses out of work

Reducing poverty in the third world would entail giving them essential services such as: water, electricity, and powerstations.

However, the UN, having jumped on the Global Warming bandwaggon, are now against allowing third world countries to develop because it would increase CO2 levels.

Even though Global Warming is an unscientific con-trick, and a 100,000 children die of starvation every single day, it seems that the disciples of global warming (to some of them it's a religion) have adopted a, 'better them than us' attitude.

The government will hold onto the cash for as long as possible, of that you can be certain.
