On "Homicide, Life on the Streets" a guy was interviewed by 2 Baltimore PD detectives and said he had seen nothing around 1:15 in the afternoon. Another cop asked them if he saw anything around 1:30 and he said yes, and gave a detailed description of the killer. When the first detectives said "I thought you didn't see anything around 1:15?" the guy said "yes, but you didn't ask me about 1:30"
The first cop turns to his partner and says "DO YOU THINK SOME PEOPLE WORK HARDER AT BEING STUPID THAN OTHERS?"
It was the truest line about police work I've ever seen anywhere!

from one tree hill:
LUCAS: Have you ever had a dream that seemed so real, when you woke up you didn't know what to believe? What would you do if what you thought was true wasn't? And what you thought wasn't true was? Would you retreat into your dreams with the hope of finding a more perfect reality? Sometimes life is stranger than a dream. And the only way to wake up is to face what lies hidden in your soul. And you can only hope that in those moments of dark reflection, that you are not alone

Gail Stanwyk: Ohhhh, John.
[they laugh]
Gail Stanwyk: John who?
Fletch: John Cock... tos... ton.
Gail Stanwyk: That's a beautiful name.
Fletch: Well, it's Scotch/Romanian.
Gail Stanwyk: That's an odd combination.
Fletch: Yeah, well, so were my parents.
