Guys...sorry,but first of all is MANGA and not magna (Japanese language doesn't have the sound "gn") and then...there are many differences:
The charachter design (us comics are more realistic than the japanese ones)
The way of reading each (Manga have to be read from right side to left, in the "wrong" way...from the common end!)
The philosophy (U will always find something that reminds you their religion or story or philosophy or all stuff like that)
Personally i prefere Mangas...

Well: according to " American type Comic Books they are
written in English verson vs Magna wich is kinda the same
thing with Animation Drawings "

Add to 1st answer US comics are mostly in color Magna comics Black & White. US comics about 30 to 32 pages long Magna thick books. My opion US comics rule ant Magna .....don't

Manga Comics are the source of these great animations such as Naruto, Inuyasha, Bleach, Love HIna...etc

Comics are american and are read from left to right, the drawings tend to look like the ones on t.v.
Manga is japanese and they read right to left, they tend to look like anime ( japanese animation)
General U.S comics deal with Heroes and what not but for Manga there are may types, from heroes to the everyday school life of a teenaged girl.

Now there are non-japanese manga like comics called manga-ka that are drawn by americans, koreans, etc.
