I have been looking this up and is by far he hardest one to find but I do know for a fact that Alaska State has the largest mountain rand on an Island as well as the most Volcano's on an island. (I used to live there) Well I did find one page where someone asked the same question and found that this persons facts are right. The number is and this is man made Islands as well 2,502,292,329
I did get a second link for you that has the list and well I am not siting online just to count all those Islands to make sure the other people are right. Have fun and you might need some paper for this.

Too many to count and also the definition of "Island" is open to interpretation

Millions, if you count every little rock and sand bar. Even if you limit it to the ones that are above water at high tide.
The 100,000 number is just for the ones people live on.
