Sounds like the DVD drivers and/or the Codecs are not installed; Try reinstalling the DVD play software, and maybe look for the Codecs.
If you use a particular Software, reinstall that, or use Media Player 11 for best DVD playback

What happens when you insert / play a DVD ?
Is there an error message ? If so, describe.
Does Windows Explorer read the drive ?

Download the latest drivers for it and it should be able to play the DVD's

try other dvds if u havent it could be only that dvd, if u have tried others ur dvd could be messed up so get a knew drive or get it repaired, u could try getting it serviced at bestbuy.
