I need to know if a 5 speed trandsmission in a 1990 s15 Ext. Cab. 4cylinder 2.5L will fit on a v6 2.8L and match up on the bell housing or will I need an adapter plate between the trany and motor?

the motor and trans will bolt together without any adapter plates.l chevy was wonderful to us by making 99% of the bellhousing patterns the same. be sure to measure the length of the trans and also check to see if the output shafts are the same.

you can use the same bell housing just bolt the trans. up to the old bell housing if u need a clutch go ahead an change that while you have it out...only ones that don't work is the 4.3

Since those two engines are totally different, I seriously doubt the transmission will fit. But you can call your local Chevy dealer and ask the service manager.

No adaptor plate needed. It will bolt right up. Why you would want to do that is the real question.
