I switch mattresses about three times a week.
But eventually I go home.

It's been about 12 years for me. I don't plan to replace it anytime soon, since it's still in excellent condition. The quality of mattress has a lot to do with the frequency of replacement need. (my set was about 1000 bucks) You get a mattress cheap, you got a cheap mattress.
Rotate and flip the mattress on a regular basis - even as much as every time you change the sheets, but normally at least once a month. (please tell me you change the sheets more often than that! :) )
A mattress is just like tires. The better the tire, the longer it's going to last. And ya gotta rotate them to keep them balanced and evenly worn.

I got a new mattress set 3 years ago. You're supposed to change your mattress every 10 years. I have a Sterns and Foster.

I got a new one about 2 years ago. I would love a new one though. I really wanted one of those soft pillow top ones, but my ex didn't. He's not even around anymore and I'm pissed that I have a crappy hard mattress!!! Its alright. I sleep at my new boyfriend's apt all the time anyway. HE has a good soft mattress! WOO HOO!

I bought an expensive mattress that has a 20 year warranty so I expect it to last 20 years. I vacuum it every so often, flip it often, spray it with Lysol and keep a thick pad on it for protection. Why would I need to replace it?

4 years ago. I think it's good every 5 years to go ahead and get a new mattress.

I had one for like 3 years and the springs popped on the edge on both sides. We tried to get the warranty to replace it but bec we ripped off the tags (DONT EVER DO! or you the warranty is void!) I have had the new one (since we had to go out and buy a new one grrrr!) for about 6 months. We didn't rip off these tags!
