I agree with Stanley Cup, with some additions.
Kaberle.....stop watching your pass, it wasn't that pretty. Watching the replays, Janssen smoked Kaberle only because Kaberle was watching his pass and not focusing on the game around him.
Secondly, the only reason this whole hit is making any news is because it happened to a Leaf! If that had happened to any other team, this probably would not receive the attention it did. There is much worse out West (where our players actually hit) almost every week and nothing is made of it.
And frankly, if it was only 1.33 seconds after the pass, then a 3 game suspension for a completly legal hit is over kill. The question Leaf fans have to ask themselves, is why didn't anyone from the team do anything about it on the ice? Someone should've taken Janssen to task, but the only Leaf to actually do anything was the injured Tucker who yapped at the Devils bench.

I'm a Devils fan who respects Tomas Kaberle a great deal. I don't know if he's going to be back for the regular season. The good news if he's just sore and walking around, the bad news is the effects of the concussion are bothering him. When I first watched the hit on Friday I felt it was dirty. But watching the replays last night I noticed Cam Janssen was gliding when he made the check. He never left his feet, didn't raise an elbow, and wasn't skating especially hard. The hit took place 1.33 secs. after Kaberle passed the puck and Cam was just trying to finish his check which he does every shift. It was unfortunate and I think the 3 games is more than enough, Cam's not a dirty player.

Kaberle has been my favorite player for the last 5 years and I was furious with what happened in that game. The one thing about Kaberle is that he avoids hits and plays a very smart game. There is no way Kaberle thought he would get hit, 1 because it was way behind the play and 2 because anybody who could hit him, would have had to have taken more than three strides. The hit was so stupid. The truth is, who cares if Janssen is suspended, he plays 3 minutes a game and is completely useless. The one suggestion I heard, was that the Devils should have to play him for 25 minutes a game until Kaberle comes back, that will teach the Devils for using such a dipshit in their line-up.

I am a leafs fan, so this may be a little biased towards them, but yes Janssen should get a a longer suspension. Janssen took a run at Kaberle, look at the replays at you see that. The hit was clean - you can't argue that - but he still took a run at him. The Officials didn't call a penalty and the Leafs didn't do anything (which i was greatly upset by). This is most often compared to Tie Domi's cheap shot on Scott Niedermeyer a few years ago that had Tie suspended for the remaineder of the playoffs. The leafs lost the series to NJ so Domi was suspended an additional 8 games at the beginning of the next season.
The NHL needs to take a firm stance on these hits and punish them accordingly.

yes, he did have a concusssion, and backspasms!! he had to stay in the hospitale overnight for observation, but I couldn't find any news after that!
yes, i do think janssen should get a bigger punishment. he sbhould have been penalized by the referee's at least!! and i think he should have been suspended from more games, maybe 5 or so. but three's a good start! and a fine would be a good idea too, make sure he doesn't do it again, stupid git! --> nothing against the other devils, i like brodeur and eliaz. but cam janssen was way out of line and i do not think he was punished quite enough for that!
p.s. with an injury like this it could be a very long time till he's able to get back in the game! i think he'll be out for a very long time yet!

he will be back, hes the most important guy on Defence up in toronto. if they expect to make the playoffs they need him back, and he knows it.
As for janssen, he's a bum. hes young, and getting dirtier. this is a decent suspension because although the hit was late, it happens all the time. I think it was more for how he was acting after he hit him.
The worst part about that play was the refs. No call, right in front of them. The NHL has let alot of questionable calls go this year, and it seems to be getting worse. While they call more hooking, they are letting some dirty plays go (such as the kaberle hit). They need to be careful because players are starting to get hurt now.

Kaberle is gone for the season according to radio reports today. Big mistake in hindsight for NHL not dealing with this dirty lowlife hit properly. But that is why it is the NHL, I guess. I don't care who you are a fan of, that hit was downright ignorant...maybe we need 20 refs on the ice at one time? They don't seem terribly clever. Maybe start paying them more than $5 an hour? But I guess Kaberle had it coming to him with all of his dirty play prior to this????????????? Pathetic.

I think that scrub or anyone that puts a player out on a clear cheap shot should be suspended as long as the player is injured. If the player never can play again then that player sits a minimum of 1 full season.

Janssen is a no talent bum, and if Domi was still playing that goofy hillbilly would have taken a dirty beating! The hit was way late and deserved more than 3 games.
