y=mx+b m=slope of line=-2

plug in (-3,0) for x and y

0=(-2)(-3)+b
0=6+b

You need to use the point slope form of the equation to work this out.

y - 0 = -2 ( x - (-3) ) simplifying this will give
y = -2 ( x + 3 )
y = - 2x - 6 this is slope intercept form ...... in standard form
y + 2x + 6 = 0

this works when given the slope and any point.

Here is the equation:
y= -2x, because the y-intercept is 0 and the slope is -2 !!!! : )

y = -2x - 6

Slope = x coefficient = -2, as given.
Line => y = mx + b

We have y, m, and x, and need to find b
0 = (-2)(-3) + b
0 = 6 + b
b = -6

y = -2x -6 QED
