i called the doc and they didn't seem overly upset, i have an appt in 2 hours, it was a little in his spit up this morning, but he and his sister have had a cold (a little caughing) over the weekend.. why should i be as petrified as i am?

I think any caring mom would be upset at seeing blood in this fashion....you are doing the best thing by going to the Dr.'s now. I shall be thinking of you....

You should be petrified!!!! A 3 month old throwing up BLOOD? I'm interested in what the doc has to say. I have no advice, I just saw your question and freaked out. Poor little guy! Hopefully the doc can tell you whats going on.

My cousins baby had this too! The doctor first asked her if there was a crack around her nipple, because if there is and the you are breast feeding then the baby can be drinking the blood. But for her that wasn't the case, it turned out for her that the baby was allergic to some that she was eating and then when she was breast feeding the baby got what she ate earlier. I'm guessing that if the doctor wasn't too freaked out that he might have it all under control.
I hope everything turns out okay for you though.

As a pediatric nurse, I would suggest taking him to a different doctor, or even the emergency room.
