Jennifer Holiday, who played Effie White in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls is alive and well and living in Manhatten.
In fact, she was invited to sing "And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" from the roof of the Roosevelt Hotel on E!'s pre-Oscar broadcast. She had a recurring guest starring role on Ally McBeal as a church choir director.
Why you might not recognize her is she's lost over 100 lbs. since she played Effie.
