Any team will be lucky to get him. But if the Oilers have a brain cell left, they should really, really try to get him back.

No, the leafs wont sign Smyth (hes not worth 5 mill a year) But whatever team ends up signing him in the off season will get allot
uglier and quite a bit dumber.

The leafs don't have enough cap room to sign Smyth. Sundin, McCade and Kubina all cost them $5.5 million a year and they are already over the cap limit (if you include injured reserve players which the NHL, thankfully, does not). The Leafs cannot change their team much over the next couple years are are relying heavily on draft picks that they didn't trade away when Quinn was the GM. Ferguson needs to make some moves in the off season to free up some cap room and build the team up over the next couple seasons to be a stanley cup contender.

Ryan Smyth is in basic terms a condominium for the Islanders because of the fact they think of they have of challenge to make the playoffs and probable win the Stanley Cup. as quickly because of the fact the offseason starts off i might anticipate him to go promptly lower back to Edmonton.

The leafs will not sign Smyth.
He will have an offer from the Islanders
He will also probably have an offer from the Oilers.
He will not want to go to the leafs because they haven't won a cup in millions of years.

toronto? no.
it all depends on what the cap goes to next year. if the isles do well in the playoffs i expect him to stay there. they look like a whole different team with Nolan, but i doubt they can sign both smyth and blake. (and smyth is better)
but definately not going back to edm, i feel bad for him with the way he was treated.

I think there's too much money invested in McCabe/Kaberle for Toronto to offer enough to prevent Smyth from re-signing with the Isles or return to Edmonton.

the leafs are too SH!T to do any of the sort.
sign a star player in his prime? the leafs dont understand this concept. they wil wait until he is 38 and then offer him 4 million a year.
edmonton (i hope) will re-sign him.
LEAFS SU>CK!!!

I can't see it happening to be honest. I'm hoping he resigns with the Islanders but that could just be wishful thinking on my part.
