erm when you say work out i'm guessin that you mean "how do i calulate a safe distance"
i'd say the safe is't distance would be in another building with windows and doors shut or as far away as you can safely be.
fore more infomation try ringing the fire service they would be able to tell you the distance they would ask you to move away.

If you can smell chlorine you are not within a safe distance! Chlorine is an incredibly strong oxidant, highly reactive, and even low levels of gas can damage your lungs permanently (chlorine combines with water to make hydrochloric acid). I'm sure you've either read about, or seen on TV, that the Iraqi terrorist insurgents are making dirty bombs using chlorine gas...which is a cheap form of mustard gas (mustard gas is made with bromine, which is in the same family of elements on the periodic table). I strongly suggest you find another place to workout until that problem is fixed!

There is no good answer to this question...Chlorine gas is heavier than air. As such, it will settle in low lying areas...stay away from those areas and mostly stay away from the whole area....chlorine gas can cause serious lung damage...just steer clear...

the safe distance is as possible as you swim without bresthing,
otherwise the more gas you breath in, the more danger you are...
When you swim your body works more efficently than usual,...dont take that HUGE risk....
