He said if Kelley doesnt get it, then shame on the people who vote. Most coaches don't promote their own player unless he is a clear cut leader of the race. Kelley is good, but if he was player of the year, shouldn't he have lead his team to more wins? They are dead last in the SEC east. Chris Lofton is the unanimous choice for this award, and he is a candidate for national player of the year as well. He leads the SEC in scoring, has more 30 point games than anyone in the country (except for Durant), and he is a great all around player. Not to mention he has lead his team to a #8 RPI ranking.

I just thought this was an absurd statement from Odom. It wouldn't be absurd if his team didn't have the worst overall record in the SEC. Maybe he should concentrate on getting them ready for the SEC tourney and the NIT rather than promoting Kelley as player of the year?

i totally agree with how you ranked them except i would switch corey brewer with al horford. either one could be considered UF's mvp along with green as well. i just think horford contributes more, although brewer seems to be the most important piece of their puzzle.

You are absolutely correct on your assessment of Dave Odom's comments.....You do not see too many coaches pimping their players like that when there is work to be done in their season... Kelley is a fine player....but you do not see too many players receive player of the year when their team is on the bottom rung of the conference....Odom needs to worry about getting into the nit and making a run there and not his players individual awards... especially on a mediocre team...

I 100% agree with you. Lofton is hands down POY in the SEC. Tre Kelley is a good player but he has no help and half of his shots he just throws up and they go in. He is the only scorer on the team so he takes 50% of the teams shots. Dave Odom is crazy if he said that. Tre Kelley is not even in the Top 5 players in the conference. My opinion is......1.Cris Lofton 2.Derrick Byars 3.Cory Brewer 4. Jamont Gordon 5. Al Horford
