Take whole aloe...get it at the health food store...I take mine in capsule form...but they have liquid too....very healthy...no chemicals to harm baby.

Constipation

Constipation is the difficult or infrequent excretion of feces. The frequency of bowel movements considered to be normal depends on the individual; "normal" may range from movements three times a day to three times a week. Greater intervals of time between movements than is customary for a particular person are a sign of constipation. The condition is not an illness in itself, but it may be a symptom of one. A physician should be consulted if the condition persists.

Causes
Constipation is most often caused by insufficient bulk in the diet or the habit of ignoring the desire to defecate. This gradually makes the rectum tight as the feces accumulate there, especially if a person's diet contains little vegetable fiber and a lot of highly processed food. Some effects of hormones produced during pregnancy may aggravate the problem. A marked change in diet, for example, as a weight-losing measure, may cause constipation.

Why does Pharm-Aloe® Whole Leaf Aloe Vera work?
Aloe Vera also contains aloin, which in small dosages acts as a natural laxative.

Hope this is helpful. Just type in Aloe constipation in the search bar...you can find additional information...as I am not recommending any one brand...

Aside from fibre. Glycerin suppositories are perfectly safe because very little, if any is absorbed into the blood stream. Also they act on the stool after all the vitamins have been taken out and they can not cause diarrhea either.

Start with a half dose or less, they are very powerful -for me anyway. I use a half an infant dose. The good thing is they work pretty much immediately.

I am also 38 weeks pregnant and having the same problem.
I asked and my Dr. said to take Colace. Just plain Colace nothing with a stimulant in it I believe it was called Sodium ------ . It's an o-t-c capsule that is in the pharmacy of your drugstore. I got the store brand and it worked very well. It did take a day or 2 for it to work but it did.

Good Luck on your delivery!

My midwife recommended dried apricots at the beginning of my pregnancy. Take 4 today and then 2 every day after that. You'll NEVER be constipated again. They don't give you stomach cramps either but make you go well.

I reciently had my third child, and had severe constipation during my 5th month. My doctors would not allow me to take anything, but suggested easing the constipation with a particular diet designed to ease constipation. I would suggest talking to your doctor, and asking them which foods/beverages will help you, and eliminate the foods that are contributing.

I would try a little bit of prune juice. It will help get things moving. I know I would drink it after I had my babies as well to make sure the 'stool' stayed soft.
Just don't drink too much juice too fast...you'll be having the opposite problem if you do. :0)

Try eating plums or drinking plumb juice. It's a natural way to get rid of constipation.
