I am auditioning for a drama school in a few months time and I am currently looking for a speech from a play by shakespeare that will last 2 minutes. The character needs to be female. I am looking for lots of suggestions to be sure that I choose the right piece. I have studied shakespeare before and know most of his plays but would like some extra help in finding less popular speeches to be sure thatI stand out. Open to any suggestions from other students, or anyone else who has an interest in drama, thanks.

The website
http://www.shakespeare-monologues.org/womenindex.shtml
lists each of the plays and which monologues they contain. Make sure you consider some of the lesser produced works, like Troilus and Cressida or Cymbeline. And also consider using a piece for a male character. Many young women do this, knowing that since women couldn't appear on-stage during Shakespeare's time, many more pieces are available for men. You migt also want to consider choosing one of the sonnets - they tell great stories and with 14 lines, will last between one and two minutes. Break a leg!

There are any number of books that contain collections of Shakespearean monologues; they shouldn't be too hard to find.

By the way, you're absolutely going about it the right way, looking for a monologue NOW for an audition that's coming up in two months' time. Bravo for you! There are a lot of folks on this site who could benefit from your example.
