In Germany, the Catholic Party (i think they were just called the Centre Party) were the last political party that were not expelled from Parliament by the Nazis. There are quite a few reasons for this, partly though, because at this point in the regime (1932ish) Hitler did not want to disenchant the Catholic church with its far reaching powers.
Because the party stayed in power longer than say the SDP and other parties, they have come under criticism from some historians for not acting to stop the threat, especially since they too had nationwide organised groups, however, in the climate of fear the Nazis created with the SA and SS, it's not surprising really they were unable to act to stop the Nazi rise to power.

The name was different; they called themselves the "Roman Catholic state Party". That was founded in the late 1920's. They changed to name to enspouse all Catholics, not just from the Latin Rite (Roman).

edited to add a link, I could write pages but this seems to be more concise. Good luck.

I have never heard of a "Catholic Peoples Party", and I was raised Catholic.
