Do you suppose our future-daughter will hate your name?

Ariella Mon'et DeMino.

That's what we plan on naming the baby.

Opinions, suggestions, etc. However, please refrain from leaving rude comments.

I think it is a pretty name and if u have a reason of why this name is special to u, ur baby will luv it... She will feel special that so much thought was put into just her name! However learning to spell the name at a young age- would b a nightmare! Lol!

It sounds a little ostentatious to me...

Speaking from the point of view of someone who has hated her first name her whole life, I would definitely pick a different first name. The posters above me pointed out that she will get picked on because of the similarity between Ariella and Areola and they are right. Remember, kids can be VERY cruel. And if she does hate it, she will get plenty of opportunities to do so, as everyone who does not know you from the telemarketers all the way to the nurse in your doctor's office will call you by your first name.

If it were me, I think I would just shorten it to Ariel.

But I say if you like it, go with it :-) She'll learn to deal with it. I did.

I think that Ariella is a good name. I'm not quite sure about Mon'et. Ariella is a really unique and pretty name.

Good Luck

It's a very pretty name. I love Ariella. Monet is cute, but I have to say that I don't understand the purpose of having the apostrophe stuck randomly in the middle of Monet. I would lose it. Too confusing. Otherwise it is a perfectly lovely name.

I preferred the name Lana that you had picked out before. I really liked that name. not a fan of Ariella, but if you like then go for it. My parents named me Jennifer and I absolutely hate it so no matter what you name your kid you stand a change of them hating their name.

She will have to spell her name for every person she meets, for the rest of her life. She'll have to correct the pronounciation of the middle name, too.

If you name her this, I will bet that by the time she's 10, she'll shorten it to "Ari", and never use the full name at all except when she has to.

Oh, and the comment about "Areola" is dead on. Every guy that's reached puberty and has enough brain cells to know what "Areola" means will think of your daughter as... well, you work it out.

The middle name is a bit iffy but overall I think it is very pretty. Ariella is a beautiful name; and it totally "goes" with her last name.

And I don't think she'll hate you ;)

I think that name is pretty. In all honesty, she will probably hate the name... at least for a while. Most kids, at least girls, hate their name, no matter what it is. If you give them a common name, they hate it because "everyone" has that name. If you give them a unique name they hate it because it's "weird".
In time though, they will learn to love it. I went through it with my daughter, Aurora. She hated her name for years. She is now 13 and she appreciates having a different name.

I like Ariella. My daughter's name is Ella. I don't care for Monet. Although, that is my favorite artist ;-) But it is your baby, name her what you want. If she hates it when she is an adult, she can always change it!
