why is it when you say your attractive...?

that people think your being vain or arrogant,i mean i dont have a boyfriend but thats my choice..long story but i do get lots of attention and if i was to describe myself id say im attractive and funny and laid back because i am..im not ugly but im not stunning..i think everyone has a quality that makes them attractive but why do people get so defensive about it..i mean nones going to say their ugly unless they are proper munters.

material girl..bit of a contradiction dont you think..you say i need to tone it sown where as you've just described yourself as stunning..huh??? i do tone it down,i dont need fake things in my hair,hands or any part of my body..maybe these girls are insecure and im just confident..the guys dont run around after me..if you rad the question properly..i think they find me easier to talk to as we chat about football etc and not just what happened in eastenders last night,most people like down to earth girls..you need to check yaself..before you wreck yaself..

If its how you truly feel about yourself then it can't be arrogant or vain, just the truth. As long as you don't keep going on about it or put yourself above others then who cares. Enjoy it.

I think that you may actually be a bit up yourself. i have just seen another of your postings where you have said that all the girls in the office you work in are possibly jealous of you cos the boys are always real friendly to you.

You need to get a reality check. There is nothing wrong with describing yourself as attractive but having an up yourself attitude never goes down well.... You darling need to tone it down cos people are obviously not taking to kindly to you.

And believe me when i say guys are fickle the boys maybe running around you now but they can be so easily influenced by the other girls in your office and turn against you.

Stop being so full of yourself and just be yourself and be nice.

And for your information i am not saying this because I am a munter I am actually a stunning woman!

Well it would be because that is a defining characteristic of someone who is vain or arrogant, they compliment themselves on their looks. It is impossible for anyone to say that they are attractive without sounding a touch conceited. No matter how good you look when you say you are attractive there will be someone who thinks that you are not that good looking. Beauty is fleeting and we all suffer the ravages of time. To avoid sounding vain, arrogant or conceited you should say "I have been told by others that I am attractive." In this way it is not you stating an opinion about yourself but you repeating someone else's opinion about you.

But saying you are attractive, you get loads of attention, you are funny and laid back is kinda vain! I don't wanna be mean or anything but that's kind of what vain means, when you have a high opinion of yourself. If people do like you alot, well there's nothing wrong with it!! If you have the guts to say you are attractive, people think you are big headed. If you say you are ugly people tell you you are not and that you are a beautiful person. Good for you for being honest, if you think you are attractive then others will too. As for people saying they are ugly, we all have different opinions of how we look to others, we may be ugly to some but beautiful to others, that;s why it's wonderful that we are all so different!!!!

yeah, people don't let you be objective about yourself. i find that weird. i am not up myself in any way,or likewise i am not down on myself. i am just realistic and self aware. i can openly admit what my weaker characteristics and physical attributes are without any desire for reassurance.and in the same way i am quite happy to admit what i like about myself.
i think its all about tone and circumstance. you can't appear like you're saying it to make someone else look or feel bad. if one of my friends said "i've got such horrible hair, i hate it so much" i would never say "really? i have great hair. i often get complimented on it." they would be the words of an as5hole. but if someone asked me what i liked about myself i might say "hair".

people often like to put confident people down. you should either consider whether they have the right to be acting the way they are (ie.are you acting out of line?) and if not, they are not the kind of people you want to know. some people aren't happy unless theyre dragging others down with them....

Maybe they just don't have as much self confidence as you. Some people tell me I'm pretty , but I wouldn't come out and say it because I don't think i am. I don't think I'm ugly, but I wouldn't say I'm pretty either. I wouldn't think you are vein or arrogant, I applaud you for your confidence.

I dont think there is anything arrogant about admiting you are attractive. It does wonders for your self esteem to say outloud = 'I'm attractive' - everyone should say it every day! Good luck to you!!!!!!
