Yes you will need a visa, I went to Egypt about 3 years ago (Visa cost ~$70.00 Canadian...I think). You will want to get the visa before you go b/c when you hit customs there (I entered at Cairo), expect to be in line for some time...you don't want to make it longer! The visa was a typical application, how long, what for, where are you going etc. Some sites with the application and info are:

Have a great trip, I loved it!

Passport (must be valid at least 2 months beyond period of
intended stay) required.

Visa required.

However, a 30 days' visa can be obtained on arrival provided:
- coming for touristic purposes; or
- coming for other purposes, if arriving from a country
without Egyptian representation or in emergency cases (left
to discretion of Immigration Authorities).
Fee: USD 15.- or equivalent.

If entering Egypt via South Sinai (through Sant Katherine,
Sharm El Sheik or Taba airports), a 14 days' visa -free of
charge- can be obtained on arrival provided:
- remaining in South Sinai resorts; and
- not continuing to any other city in Egypt.

Wives of Egyptian nationals:
visa exempt, provided holding proof thereof. However, wives
who are of a nationality who normally cannot obtain a visa
on arrival are required to obtain approval from the authorities upon arrival.

Yellow fever vaccination not required.

Malaria prophylaxis recommended during period June-October.

Canadians must have a passport valid for at least two months beyond period of intended stay, and a visa is required. A 30-day visa can be obtained on arrival provided the purpose of travel is for tourism. For travellers just travelling to the south Sinai resorts, a free 14-day visa can be obtained on arrival.

in case you're an American going as a vacationer, then you fairly could purchase a visa beforehand from an Egyptian consulate or the embassy in DC. yet it rather is a waste of time and cash. you apart from mght supply you the prospect to get your visa on the airport. basically have $15 money with you, hand it to the teller at any between the banks stunning when you arrive on the airport and that they are going to hand you a stamp to adhere on your passport-that's your visa. rapid, user-friendly and painless. some excursion operators certainly fee a ludicrous volume of money to try this for you, even nevertheless it fairly is rather undemanding to do your self and takes 15 seconds.

honestly not sure if you do as a Canadian but all English citizens do and most Europeans you can find out at the embassy in London, they have a web site, but you can also buy a visa as you enter the country cost between £10 and £15 English pounds and they like foreign currency to pay for it.if you apply before you leave it will cost you double that. It really doesn't take to long to queue for it. i usually still get through passport control before my cases. thats in cairo and certanly in luxor

Yes, I'm Irish and I went there last year, I needed a VISA, however, I bought it when I arrived at the airport, it was about €15. However, you would need a different VISA to go to different parts of the country.. You be best to contact the Egyptian Embassy in Dublin, link below
