Insurance companies are out to get money. They pretend to care about the less fortunate as long as they keep getting the cash flowing into their pockets. When a man who has nothing else to lose..working a part time job at a factory , has his car towed away, and then the mother of all problems his son is diagnosed with a fatal heart condition he does what an extremely loving father does in a desperate situation. It just goes to show that society is paying their hard earned cash just to be refused for petty reasons only to have a fatal child refused for a heart transplant.

John Q is the hero everyone wants to be..a brilliant man who tries every reasonable way to pay his debt, but when it comes down to a mear matter of days that he gets to spend with the pride and joy of his life he takes the desperate measures he has to and takes the hospital hostage (never intending to harm anyone-the gun wasn't loaded). Even then when a doner heart cannot be found he desides to commit suicide with the only bullet he had in his pocket so his son will be able to live on.

Bravo Denzel

F*ck insurance companies.

The biggest problem, obviously, is the insurance policy. The fact that if you don't have insurance, the hospital won't admit you is dumb. Everyone needs healthcare. You can't turn away hurt people.
Second, the problem is money comes first. To a hospital, you have to have money before you can be treated. In Mike's case, they wouldn't put him on the donor's list until they had a set amount of money. Meanwhile, Mike is dying in a hospital room. You have to think about the patient before the costs. Life is worth more than money.

the major concern is, that he had been paying into his insurance for 20 years at the plant he was working at, and when it came time when he really needed help, his insurance company left him out in the cold. great movie, very under rated. one of Denzel's best performances.

no besides the undeniable fact that it somewhat is an rather heart shifting action picture. i'm specific there are people in comparable situations with people wellness care coverage who's vendors refuse to pay for therapy, it extremely is horrifying.

they dont give consideration to poor people. they will not treat the patient if they dont have proper payments. i think that's the major problem in that movie.
