to do it over the web you need the computername or domain name for server try nslookup from command prompt

nslookup computername
nslookup domainname.com

If your computer and that computer have talked at all it will be in your ARP table temporarily. If both machines are on the same network, and running Windows, if you know the name of the machine you can ping that name and it will give you the IP.

Or if you are on the same network, or it is wireless, you could sniff the traffic.
